Who are you?

Wendy Bayne I weave themes reflecting my interests and passions in history and social justice throughout my debut novel Untitled: Crimes Against the Crown.
Set in 1827 England a young girl coming of age finds herself embroiled in the world of espionage to find not only love but that family secrets are sometimes dark and terrible as she is recruited by England's master of spies as an Agent of the Crown.

Books have been a large part of my life and I enjoys multiple genres. I also an avid fan of Toronto Maple Leafs Hockey and Toronto Blue Jays Baseball.

Where do you live?

I live in my favourite place in the world Canada, namely in the province of Ontario.

What’s your home life like?

Relaxed, we have family coming and going at all hours. My husband and I are retired so we just watch the flow of traffic in the house. Make sure they are all safe and taken care of and they return the favour.

What genre(s) do you like to write? To read?

In reading I'm open to most genres having read a smattering of just about everything.

In my writing I prefer historical fiction thrillers that are full of suspense, a touch of humour and a message. I think we all put a bit of ourselves into our writing so I like strong partnerships in my characters.

Why did you start writing?

I had retired from a very satisfying nursing career and was bored. I just decided to try my hand at it to distract myself while awaiting knee surgery so I am definitely a late bloomer.

I also wanted to create some kind of legacy for my family for when I am gone.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I pretty much write everyday but when I'm not I read, watch movies, walk trying to keep fit. Daydream about being a successful author.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

With COVID-19 bookstores are more or less out of the question so I look at Amazon and Wattpad mainly.

via GIPHY

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

If the grammar is just so ludicrous I can't take it any more.

via GIPHY

Are you independently or traditionally published?

I was published by a vanity publisher at my age I just wanted to see my name in print. Its has gotten every good reviews so far.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

I have sequels ready but the thought of going through the whole process again is mind blogging and I think I will just copyright them then post them to a place like Wattpad for any fans to enjoy.

If I luck out maybe the right person will see them and I be published again.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

I'm currently promoting Untitled: Crimes Against the Crown.

Some friends have been very kind in making a book trailer for me and several vignettes that I have posted on twitter they can also be seen Youtube at W.Bayne

What’s the elevator pitch?

If you like historical fiction full of action and adventure read Untitled: Crimes Against the Crown.

This is not Jane Austen

How long have you been working on it?

I finished it in 2018. It took me that long to decide what to do with it.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

It is currently available in ebook, paperback and hardcopy at most online book stores.

How can readers find you?

What inspires you to keep writing?

"Write primarily for yourself."
Stephen King
"Language does not always have to wear a tie and lace-up shoes. The object of fiction isn't grammatical correctness but to make the reader welcome and then tell a story. You should strive to make the reader forget that he or she is reading a story at all."
Stephen King

Anything you’d like to add?

Thank you for this opportunity.

Also you are never to young or two old to start writing just be true to yourself and write your story.

Many thanks to Wendy Bayne for participating in My Laughably Inane Blog. I wish her all the best in her writing endeavors.
