Where do you live?

Manchester UK

What’s your home life like?

I have pretty much seperated myself from my old life so it doesn't distract me from my task. So I live alone and have few friends or family as I spent most my life as a party animal from playing in bands, running clubs and pubs etc

What genre(s) to you like to write? To read?

I read and write Epic fantasy mainly although I am also working on a comedy short. The books are branded under The Hidden Histories and the 1st book is called a A Gods Mistake; set in a time where man had magic and walked with the gods. The other book I'm writing with my closest friend Alan Phythian and its set after a mass migration from my first age when the creator took magic from man to banish a fallen god. It's a tale following two heroes and a fem street thief on a journey to figuring out why they are in the situation they are in and the re emergence in a new elemental age of an ancient threat. The book is the closest to finished around 5 chapters left and is called The Forgotten. I read David Gemmell, RobertJordan, Gearorge rr Martin, Robin Hobb, Terry Brook, David Eddings, Raymond E Fiest etc

Why did you start writing?

I have always loved stories from TV, film and writing. My parents said I was an easy child as they could just put me in front of the TV. When I started reading at 18 it opened a doorway for me and I've read a thousand books since and I write because I dream my stories and have a need to tell them. And maybe it helps me process the world too

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I'm a digital artist and musician. So I draw and write poetry; play my guitar and I still have a massive addiction to movies and fantastical TV

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

I have always enjoyed walking around charity shops and finding second hand books at a tenth of the price, also recommendations and buying off Amazon

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

I usually will read the first 100 pages, if it hasn't got me by then odds on I will start another. I get bored with most genres other than fantasy v quickly.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

I'm getting to the stage where i'm looking at both options but as yet neither. I was looking to publish on Amazon but people keep saying I should mail my manuscript to publishers

How many books/stories have you published so far?

Zero.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

The two fantasy books I named earlier and a comedy short following the oddest superheroes called Dancing Dave and Relative Russell

What’s the elevator pitch?

Currently working on it

How long have you been working on it?

the fantasy books I've been world building for ten years. The book with a friend that's nearly complete 4 years between studies and the comedy a couple of years

When will it be available to buy? Where?

Probably Amazon and hopefully this year but at latest early next year

What inspires you to keep writing?

I like poems like Tiger Tiger by William Blake or my favourite quote is:
“I am the punishment of God...If you had not committed great sins, God would not have sent a punishment like me upon you.”
Genghis Khan
I dont really know quotes about writing that inspire. I do like Joseph Campbells thesis The Heroes Journey. My inspiration is possibly my innate need to be a showman and a bard or writer allows me to use my gift for language to create worlds of magic and heroes who can overcom the worst and become more. I suppose I want to be more not just some kid brought up rough on a council estate I want to leave a legacy and maybe one day even have them make a film or show from my tales

Anything you’d like to add?

If you have any other questions you know where to find me :)

I'd only add that I believe we are all on our own heroes journey and that is the beaty of life; that those born in darkness can be a light for others and that we can all be better if we work for it

My appreciation goes out to Dave Evans for spending a few moments with the Laughably Inane Blog. I wish him the best in all his creative endeavors.

What's it like being left behind... on Mars.

Mark Watney was left for dead on the barren surface of Mars after a fierce storm forced his crew to abandon their mission. With no means to contact NASA or his crew, he relies on his tenacity, resourcefulness, and out-of-the-box thinking to survive. The Martian is a hard-science story of man versus nature on steroids.
