Who are you?

Jodi L. Milner is the author of the YA noble dark fantasy Stonebearer’s Betrayal as well as several short stories appearing in numerous anthologies and SQ Magazine. She's a firm believer that life is what you make it and she intends to make it a good one.

Where do you live?

Greater Salt Lake Valley, Utah

What’s your home life like?

I'm a full-time mom to three school age kids, wife to a Freemason, and keeper of backyard chickens. It's chaotic, but I love it.

What genre(s) to you like to write? To read?

I mostly write traditional fantasy, complete with magic and sometimes dragons. When I read, while I love fantasy, I love a great story even more. So, I'll read anything that comes well recommended.

Why did you start writing?

While I always played with little stories growing up, I didn't start writing seriously until my second child was born and I needed to escape into my own fantasy world for a while to refill my sense of self.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

When I find a bit of free time I like working in the yard, building home improvement projects with my hubby, reading, and watching documentaries and YouTube.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

Being an author means I have lots of author friends who all have amazing books. If I'm looking for a good read I start there. After that, I like reading books that make it on the "100 books to read before you die" list.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

I rarely ever put a book down. However, the one or two times I have is when the story didn't progress and there was no clear conflict.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

Currently all my projects are traditionally published with various small presses.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

As of Spring 2019, I have one epic fantasy novel and five short stories in different anthologies, plus another short story under contract to be released Spring 2020.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

I'm currently promoting my new book Stonebearer's Betrayal, a YA noble dark epic fantasy while working on its sequels.

What’s the elevator pitch?

The day Katira discovers magic is real she also learns of the dark menace that wants to destroy her family. She must rally the courage to defeat this darkness and save all that she loves or risk becoming a pawn in a much bigger war.

How long have you been working on it?

I worked on Stonebearer's Betrayal off and on for ten years before it was ready to find a publisher.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

Stonebearer's Betrayal is available to buy at all major online book retailers, including Amazon.

How can readers find you?
