Who are you?

In my real life, I'm a medieval art historian who also teaches writing.

Where do you live?

I live in Florida. I'll be delightfully ambiguous about the specific location :)

What’s your home life like?

Sweet and tranquil. I have a husband who I love very much and a cute dog who makes every single day bright. We live a simple life and enjoy good food and wonderful company (as well as the occasional Netflix binge).

What genre(s) do you like to write? To read?

I write dystopian science fiction and historical fantasy. I might branch into writing other genres as my writing career expands.

As for reading, I devour pretty much everything under the sun and moon. That said, I mostly read sci-fi, fantasy, historical fic, as well as plenty of non-fiction about the medieval world and cognitive science.

Why did you start writing?

I have an innate need to create, and writing fiction is an excellent outlet for that energy. I get restless if I can't do something creative and productive.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I go to work and spend time with my family, mostly. My husband and I are chill people, but we love traveling the world, SCUBA diving, and hanging out with friends.

I also write articles in my academic field and make art.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

A couple of places. I read blogs to find new mainstream stuff. I also visit Goodreads and Twitter to find books written by people I follow. I've found a ton of great reading material like that!

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

If the grammar is terrible or I can't get into a book, I usually set it down. Usually, I give the book some space and come back to it later because my mood sometimes influences whether or not I get into a book. I try to give everything a chance. It helps that I read at the gym; sometimes, the elliptical machine keeps me as a captive audience for the book du jour.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

Traditionally published with a small sci-fi publisher.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

One.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

I'm promoting my debut novel, The Moon Hunters, a post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure with romance.

I'm currently working on the sequel and am almost done :)

What’s the elevator pitch?

More than fifty years after a plague devastates the world, Dr. Deanne Ambagu finds two people stranded in a Viking ship in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. These strangers come from an island that's been isolated from the world since the plague. When the young woman, Leilani, wakes up, Deanne soon discovers what dangers made them flee their island refuge.

How long have you been working on it?

I worked on the book for a good couple of years before it found a home.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

The Kindle version and paperback are both available on Amazon.

How can readers find you?

Readers can connect with me on my webpage, Twitter, and Instagram.

What inspires you to keep writing?

"Not all those who wander are lost."
J.R.R. Tolkien
This quote is poignant because writing can be a rather twisty venture with lots of wandering.

Anything you’d like to add?

I'd like to thank you for promoting books! Also, I'd like to tell other writers not to give up. The path to publication is long, but the journey is worth it.

My thanks to Anya Pavelle for participating in My Laughably Inane Blog. I wish her all the best avoiding crocodiles while wandering through her literary adventures.

Just a small-town boy with an overactive imagination.
