Book Review: Got Luck by Michael Darling

Got Luck by Michael Darling is a wonderful spin on a classic crime thriller.

Goethe "Got" Luck is a former cop who exudes the smarmy wit you expect from a Private Investigator. When he takes on a dead-end case from the classic "mysterious woman", Got not only discovers the truth behind her husband's death but also his own connection to the realm of magic.

From failed assassination attempts, thwarting a fallen knight, and a shotgun wedding, Got uses every skill he knows (and a few he's recently been taught by the woman of his dreams) to keep himself and everyone he cares about alive long enough to send a demon back to hell.

I was hooked from page one! Got Luck supplies a storyline filled with humor and a brilliant perspective on the Fae world.

I had the privilege to meet Michael when he gave a presentation on Cliches in Writing at a meeting for the League of Utah Writers last in September 2016. After signing the copy of Got Luck he shamelessly sold me, he sat with me for a few minutes and offered some wonderful encouragement to me as a budding author.

Michael's soft-spoken, but quick-witted style, immediately warmed me up to him. I became a fan of his before I even started reading this novel. He has a generous soul, and I hope to emulate this trait in my own writing career.
