Who are you?

Edward Fuller.
I drive a truck these days, but I have worked in a number of trades.

Where do you live?

Roanoke, Virginia, eight days a month.
I live in my truck over the road for the other 22.

What’s your home life like?

Home visits are mini vacations from truck driving, for me. I try to make the most of my time there. I do home improvement projects, honey do list activities, laundry, and hang out with the family. Cookouts are involved.

My younger daughter is a high school senior, trying to get for college amid pandemic, and my older daughter is a forensic analyst for the Virginia State Police lab.

What genre(s) do you like to write? To read?

I like historical nonfiction. I like historical fiction. I enjoy adventures. I like mysteries and horror as well. I like flawed protagonists, and villains with understandable motives.

Okay.
I like to read a bit of everything.
I write narrative poetry.
I tell very short stories, or current events commentaries, with poetry most days thanks to a daily literary prompt page on Twitter called #vss365.
I collect my daily writings and publish them in anthologies to feed my soul and those who desire to keep my works in their personal libraries.

Why did you start writing?

I started writing for catharsis. I had so many things going on in my heart and my head, that it was dangerous to keep them bottled up inside.
I have a lot of down time away from home as a trucker. Writing enables me to put that dock time and truckstop time to purposeful use. I have chosen a number of paths that give me much to write about.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I draw. I paint. I cook. I like to fix things. I spend a lot of time in the home improvement and lawn and garden isles of big department stores.
I enjoy the company of our tabbies and a beagle who is hopelessly attached to my partner. She reciprocates his attachment.

We travel when we can. Maine and New York City are favorite destinations for our sprees.
I like all kinds of music, movies, and media.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

I listen to audiobooks mostly.
I can listen to them anywhere. I am a notorious multitasker.
I consume books and podcasts while I drive for work, instead of music or the radio.

If I am on vacation, then a couch, or an Adirondack chair works for me, on a covered porch, or a private pier.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

I don’t think I have ever stopped in the middle of a book on purpose. I usually finish them no matter what. I didn’t think War & Peace was all that great, but guess what? I read it cover to cover. Les Miserables was almost as long but I found it more enjoyable and finished it quicker.
I commit to books, once started.

I didn’t finish Steinbeck’s East of Eden this past summer because I left the book at the vacation rental property. I usually like his works, but I found it predictable, and kept busy with tourist activities.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

I publish my own books. I started out thinking I wanted to get traditionally published, but I realize now, that I would have to fully commit, quit my steady income, and live to write, and write to live.

I’m not ready for that yet, but it is a goal for me, someday, as I get better at writing.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

I’ve published four books so far. They include about 750 stories with two novellas included in them.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

2020 has fertilized my mind to write like no other year that I can remember. I’m about 350 pieces into my next anthology. I plan to get it published by the New Year.
My anthologies are a hodgepodge of whatever crosses my mind, that I think will entertain, or spark the minds of readers.
After I publish this collection, which will put me over 1,000 poems published, I will focus on building a traditional novel.

What’s the elevator pitch?

I write for people who don’t have much time to read, or short attention spans.
I write Twitter length vignettes that tell tales of humor, lust, love, anger, life lessons.
My book is perfect for electronic media consumers on the go, who need a laugh, an inspiration, or a quick fiction fix.

How long have you been working on it?

I published my last book this past summer, and immediately began constructing my new 2020 collection.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

January 2021 is my target.
Formatting and editing always takes time.
The end is in sight.

How can readers find you?

What inspires you to keep writing?

“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
Eleanor Roosevelt
“Free your mind, and your ass will follow.”
George Clinton

Anything you’d like to add?

Thanks for the opportunity and encouragement to share my writing.
Thanks to the Twitter #WritingCommunity, #Vss365, and #ReadMeSpeakMe spoken word groups.
