Author Interview with Claudine F. Knight

Who are you?

Hi,

My name is Claudine F Knight, I’m 26 years old and I’m a huge fan of tea, animals and cute things. I cry at sad books and movies but not so much in real life.

Where do you live?

I live in Northern Ireland and aim to travel the world.

What’s your home life like?

I’m extremely happy right now living with my very sweet, loving and sexy partner. We share chores and generally are just starting our life together.

What genre(s) to you like to write? To read?

I’m the author of cute/angsty romances with a fantasy and Jane Austen-inspired twist under Claudine F Knight as well as erotica ranging from cute to kinky under Freya Knight.

I mostly read comedy, thrillers and cute romances or erotica. Nick Spalding is a favourite as well as Cecelia Ahern and Agatha Christie.

Why did you start writing?

I started writing because I had to get all the ideas swirling in my head down. Admittedly, it was mostly to try and become my own version of Agatha Christie but I realised after multiple attempts that this is just not me. I need romance, cuteness, lust, love and magic.

Now, I write because it’s therapeutic as well as a creative let-out.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I cook, clean, draw, work and generally enjoy my life with my partner and friends.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

Library!!!! Twitter now too.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

If I struggle through the first chapter and it still doesn’t grip me or as soon as I notice that the author is an awful speller. There have been many fan fictions and actual novels set aside due to bad grammar or spelling.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

I publish through KDP. This is so that I have full control and also because I write novellas/shorter pieces which traditional publishers usually don’t go for.

How many books/stories have you published so far?

Let’s see... I think it’s six eroticas, two in my magic, mayhem, mischief and love trilogy then a separate cupid-inspired story. 9 stories.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

I’m currently working on the third novella in my trilogy. I am not sure what to call it yet, but there’s lots of confusion, intrigue, passion, randomness and continued interferences from my fairy, genie and sprite. Potentially God/Lucifer too?

It will also have a few choose your own adventure options. I always loved those in stories and wanted to weave them into mine. It’s hard to write, but will be worthwhile. I hope!

What’s the elevator pitch?

*Spoiler alert-third story in a trilogy*

Have you ever read a story and desperately wanted to reach beneath the words to shake a character into action? Have you ever thought a character made a choice that they should not have? Have you ever read a book and wondered what living in that world would actually be like?

In the second story, you chose the ending and who one of our sisters would be with; the male best friend or the dashing Mr Darcy-esque lord.

Was your choice right for her, though?

Is the lord all that he’s cracked up to be and is Paddy’s ex really meant to stay an ex?

What did Raine mean when she referred to a higher power? Is the fairy not this experiment’s mastermind?

Surely now that Mark and George are back in their universes, things are back to normal?

No?

And what does the pretty gay friend have to do with anything? How does she even know that she’s a character and not a real person?

You have three choices here, so have fun making an even bigger mess than the fey have in these sisters’ lives.

Maybe you’ll find out something even I didn’t expect at the start.

How long have you been working on it?

Since January 2019 or thereabouts and it’s been pretty hard work!

When will it be available to buy? Where?

I’m hopeful that this will be ready to buy on Amazon in early 2020.

How can readers find you?

What inspires you to keep writing?

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.”
Maya Angelou
I write to give voice to the ideas bubbling inside of me and to work through thoughts, emotions and situations in my life. Writing is one of my great loves and a love only surpassed by chocolate and my partner.

Anything you’d like to add?

I write stories that I want to read, I write to make me happy and I read to keep me sane.

But, knowing that my writing makes others happy too, gives me great joy.

I even take requests for pieces- just check out my Twitter for details.

My thanks to Claudine for joining us from Northern Ireland on My Laughably Inane Blog. I wish her the best in life and writing.

Just a small-town boy with an overactive imagination.
