Who are you?

Your cousin! ;) I’m a writer and lover of all things fantasy, a decent baker, a mediocre musician, a collector of eyeglasses, devourer of Goldfish crackers, mom, Mormon, and extrovert.

What’s your home life like?

I have two small children so often hectic! But I have a great assistant and stellar husband, so things manage to stay sane 99% of the time.

What genre(s) to you like to write? To read?

I love writing fantasy and romance. And I love reading them, too.

Why did you start writing?

I wanted to be able to tell a story as good as the one in The Vision of Escaflowne, which I watched as a kid.

What do you do when you’re not writing?

I parent. And waste time on the Internet (who doesn’t?). I take Kung Fu recently enrolled in singing lessons.

Where do you like to go when looking for a new book to read?

Goodreads. I have a long list, but when I’m hankering for a specific feel/mood/genre, I often go to the page of a book I love and look at the titles similar to it.

At what point do you call it quits when reading a new book?

I admit I have never understood people who have a need to finish all books they start, even if they hate them! The moment my disbelief is no longer suspended, or there’s a major world-building error, or bad character motivation... that’s when I put the book down. If it’s a novel that’s not for me, that usually happens within the first few chapters.

Are you independently or traditionally published?

Traditionally

How many books/stories have you published so far?

I have six published, with two more coming this year! The Plastic Magician releases May 15, and Veins of Gold releases July 17.

What book/story are you currently promoting or working on?

I’m promoting the two titles mentioned above, and working on my new Numina trilogy, which will come out next year. Specifically, prose edits for book two.

What’s the elevator pitch?

For my Numina series… I just say it’s magical fidget spinners meets Final Fantasy. ;)

How long have you been working on it?

I first started brainstorming it at the end of July 2017.

When will it be available to buy? Where?

All my books are best purchased on Amazon. Numina will release quarter two of 2018.

How can readers follow you?

Anything you’d like to add?

My next released book, The Plastic Magician, is a companion novel to The Paper Magician series (the film rights of which were purchased by Disney!). However, it stands on its own, so if one hasn’t read the original trilogy, he/she can still pick up the book. :)

Thank you, Charlie, for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be a part of the Laughably Inane Blog. It's been a joy for me to watch, and learn from, your writing and support you in any way I can. You're a wonderful example to me as I've stepped onto the path to authorship.
